Post by Ismat Ismatullah »

Hello Alejandro A. Ortiz Bernardin,

I come up with exactly the same problem yesterday for writing a PNG file.
The same message appeared as you mentioned. But immediately i came to know
that the problem was some bad / unacceptable character in the file name.
When i renamed the filename with common characters, the problem was
resolved and PNG was successfully written. May be you can also try this.
Good Luck.
Regards,
Ismat

[GiDlist] Problem writing EPS file (Alejandro A. OrtizBernar

Post by escolano »

Maybe the problem is as Ismat pointed a problem to open a file with non ASCII characters.

Which platform are you using? Linux or Windows? and what is the exact GiD version (see help-about)?

I am trying to write an EPS file in GiD v11, but I found the following
problem when printing it:

"Couldn?t write ps/eps file. Test permissions and quotas."

What does it mean and how can I resolve this issue?

Regards,

Alejandro.

I just bought the license for GiD v11 and the same problem persists. It
gives me the same error: "Couldn't write ps/eps file. Test permissions and
quotas."

It is not my case. The path and name is fully ASCII. However, the default
path to GiD folder has spaces in it.

The full path must be ASCII to avoid problems opening the file, not only the
file name and last folder name.

It is your case? (try saving inside a path without non-ASCII characters,
like C:\tmp\my_file.eps)

On the other hand your problem could be another...

Thanks for the reply. However is not the case mentioned by Ismat. Attached
are two figures that show the problem. I am using GiD 10.0.9 win64.

Maybe the problem is as Ismat pointed a problem to open a file with non
ASCII characters.

Which platform are you using? Linux or Windows? and what is the exact GiD
version (see help-about)?

Hello Alejandro A. Ortiz Bernardin,

I come up with exactly the same problem yesterday for writing a PNG file.
The same message appeared as you mentioned. But immediately i came to know
that the problem was some bad / unacceptable character in the file name.
When i renamed the filename with common characters, the problem was resolved
and PNG was successfully written. May be you can also try this.

Good Luck.

Ismat

[GiDlist] Problem writing EPS file (Alejandro A. OrtizBernar

Post by Alejandro A. Ortiz Bernardin »

Here is another thing I tried.

For GiD v10.0.9 one machine running Windows and another machine running
Ubuntu:

I tried to obtain an EPS file with resolution 600. In both cases I got the
error that is depicted in the attached figure.

For GiD v11.1.0 and GiD v11.1.0d one machine running Windows and another
machine running Ubuntu:

I tried to obtain an EPS file with resolution 600. In both cases I got only
the warning: "Couldn´t write ps/eps file. Test permissions and quotas".
