[GiDlist] Bug with newer NVIDIA Drivers?

Post by Nunzio Losacco »

Dear sirs,

I am having the same problem with a nVidia 9400 GT card and GiD 9.0.2 on
Windows XP x64.
The main window is completely black apart for a small white square in the
bottom left corner of the screen.

Best regards,

[GiDlist] Bug with newer NVIDIA Drivers?

Post by escolano »

On Windows try to disable (or decrease) the hardware graphical acceleration

(Screen properties-Advanced options-Solve problems..., )

or start GiD without use this acceleration: start GiD safe mode (from the
start menu) and activate use Software OpenGL

Regards

Enrique

[GiDlist] Bug with newer NVIDIA Drivers?

Post by Nunzio Losacco »

Thank you very much for your help.

Is this issue gonna be fixed in the future?

I have to point out that the "Gid safe mode" command has a bug in the 64
bit version. In the script tk/pkgIndex.tcl "tk85tgid.dll" should be
substituted by "tk85txgid.dll".I fixed it and now it works. Anyway it would
be good to be able to use hardware acceleration.

Thanks again,

Nunzio.

[GiDlist] Hexaedron meshes

Post by Marcotte, Jean-Philippe »

Hi all,

I'm trying to mesh a simple 1x1x1 cubic volume, with element type: Hexaedra. GiD gives me the following message:

Volume number 1 can only be meshed with tetrahedral, and it has an other element type assigned.

Is it possible to mesh with hexahedrons?

Thank you,
J-P

You can mesh hexahedra only for structured meshes.

go to menu: Mesh-Structured-Volumes
select the volume, and then set the number of divisions (2 by default) on each three directions (select some line of this direction)
and generate the mesh again

You are right, the name of the dll is wrong in the tk/pkgIndex.tcl of the winx64 GiD distribution.
We are fixing it for the next version

Thanks

[GiDlist] Hexaedron meshes

Post by abelcs »

Just add to Enrique's explanation that you can also obtain hexahedra meshes
using semi-structured meshes (structured in the prismatic direction of the
volume, and unstructured in the "tops"). You can assign this kind of mesh by
"Mesh-Semistructured-Volumes".

ABEL
