[GiDlist] observation points for results

Post by escolano »

You can use

View Results-Graph-Point evolution

And enter the x,y,z coordinates of the point (that must be inside of some element)

And you will get its interpolated result along all time steps.

During the selection you can click the right mouse button, and in the contextual menu change the mode to pick existing nodes (Join Ctrl-a / Select nodes) or pick coordinates of points to be interpolated.

The graph values could be exported to a text file with Files-Export-Graph

Or from the graphs window you can show a table with the selected graph values, and use copy/paste of these values (e.g. to transfer the values to MS Excel)

Hi GiD team,

I would like to export my results in some points that are not mesh nodes. I have the coordinates of those points. Is there a way to get the results in those "observation points"?

Thank you,
Julia

[GiDlist] Does "contour fill" works on GID 11.1.9.d?

Post by HEMMI, Shigeru »

Dear Anna Monros and Enrique Escolano,

I removed 3 files in the AppData\Roaming\GiD

.GiDPostPreferences.ini
gid.ini
gid.preferences

then restart GiD, it works fine.

Seems that "fast visualization mode" or "safe mode" is not a problem.

Thanks for the support.

[GiDlist] observation points for results

Post by Julia Camargo »

Hi Enrique,

I am following all the steps you recommended:

View Results-Graph-Point evolution
And enter the x,y,z coordinates of the point (that must be inside of some
element)

But I keep receiving the message that "the point lies outside the set". I
did a simple example to verify if my point was inside an element. As you
can see in the attached picture, the point I have chosen (0.5,0.5,0.5)
certainly is inside some element. Even so, the message appears. But if I
put the coordinate of a node, then I receive a result. What am I doing
wrong?

Thank you again,
Regards,
Julia
