Yes, GiD can read a binary format, but at this moment is not documented.
It exist a command line in GiD to read a postprocess GiD ascii file and
convert to a binary postprocess GiD file.
This command is
gid -PostResultsToBinary input_filename output_filename
(this command run GiD without windows)

In a near future, we will provide to the users the documentation of this
binary format,
as well as code in C++ and FORTRAN to facilitate its direct writing.
