Hi everyone

I have a major problem with GID, I want to model a couple problem in PFC and GID but when I want to calculate in GID face with an error which says "Problem type 'CFD' can't be found" How could I download CFD module for GID or what should I do?

yours sincerely
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I don't know who is exactly raising this message?
Is it related with SAFIR? Then must ask its developers.

What do you want to calculate, and which is the problemtype that you are trying to use?
CDF is not a known or popular problemtype, and there are multiple GiD problemtypes dealing with Computer Fluid Dynamics (Kratos, Tdyn, interfaces with OpenFoam and Fluent, ...)

Dear GiDlist
thanks a million for your answer.

we want to do a simple problem which is solved in PFC 5.00 software's manual for an example (this example is solved in PFC manual as a sample project and teached step by step), we followed PFC manual structure but faced this error in GID and we could't solve that, unfortunately.
This project is very important for us, what can we do for solving this problem?
I attached two pictures, the first picture is PFC's manual and the second one is GID's error which we faced.

thank you very much.

GID problem is : "Problem type 'CFD' can't be found"
best regards
Sarah

Hello Sarah,

Your issue is not related at any with the Safir problemtype (of fire simulation)
Seems that you are following some tutorial of an old GiD problemtype for PFD3D developed by Itasca?
http://www.itascacg.com
but you don't have the files of a sub-problemtype named 'CFD'

The GiD message mean that the folder \problemtypes\CFD.gid is missing,
but we don't know anything about it.
How have you obtained the tutorial that you are following?
You must ask to the tutorial authors to provide you for the GiD problemtypes and required solvers.

Or you can use some alternative problemtpe able to do the kind of numerical simulation you want, like the suggested Computer Fluid Dynamic solvers (Kratos, Tdyn,...)

Thank you so much
I followed CCFD part of PFC version 5 manual and installed newest version of GID from gidhome.
I saw In the pfc manual, used FINAS problemtype.
Do you know how I can install "FINAS" module on GID?
the PFC manual doesn't explain "kratos,Tdyn..." and I don't know how they work.

Hello,
'FINAS' module is not developed by the GiD Development Team, and unfortunately we don't know who is in charge of it.
