[GiDlist] problem with white screen at startup

Hi Marco,

I delete the file ~/.gidDefaults and restart the program, but the

problem continues.

I am sending attached the picture of the screen of the startup of the
gid program.

The program forward not of this screen.

I still can not run the Gid 11.0.4 in the Ubuntu 12.04.

After installing the version Gid 11.0.4 and enter the password

the initial screen is without menu and buttons.

The screen is white and I can not work.

Hou can I solve this problem?

I had the same problem regarding the screen with no buttons nor
menu,
 to
 get them back I had to delete the file ~/.gidDefaults and restart
 Gid.

~/GiDx64/11.0.4/scripts
 and
 restarted o GiD program, but the problem still continues. The screen
 continues white,
 with no buttons and no menu.

Any ideia what is the problem? Maybe lacks some important
installation
 in the Ubuntu.
 Help me, please.

Hello Geraldo,

I don't have idea about the cause of this problem.
It happen the same using the developer version 11.1.4d ?

you can also try if GiD start using OpenGL by software, with the command
gidx

[GiDlist] problem with white screen at startup (attached fil

I think that the problem is that in the Linux install version it is included
by mistake a wrong file: scripts\TemporalVariables, with a wrong 'server IP'
this file must store your GiD password, and intitially must not exists until
you fill in with your password.

Try to delete this file, then when starting GiD will ask again for your
password.
Remember that depending on your installation path, to be allowed to save
your password in this file, GiD must be started with administrator
privileges (sudo gid)

We will check all our last GiD Linux installers to see if the related
'scripts\TemporalVariables' file is included by error, and then we will
upload to the web a new fixed installer.

I don't have idea about the cause of this problem.
 It happen the same using the developer version 11.1.4d ?

you can also try if GiD start using OpenGL by software, with the command
 gidx

I delete the file ~/.gidDefaults and restart the program, but the

problem continues.

I'm going through a tutorial of GiD 11 basic courses, chapter 2.4.8.

I get this error (Ubuntu 13.04 64 bits):

GiD_TclEval error(|1958): gidproc - sorry but 'Permission denied' when
trying to execute
'/home/MYACCOUNT/Programmes/GiDx64/11.04/probemtype/CompassFEM11.0/compassfem.gid/compassfem.tdyn.unix.bat'.
while executing '::PWStartProc'

Any idea what went wrong?

I think that the problem is that the .unix.bat and executables of the exec
folder doesn't have the 'execution Linux attribute'


This execution attribute was lost because the problemtype was obtained
zipped from the Internet retrieve menu, and a zip file not support this kind
of Linux file attributes,
(this problem doesn't happen in Windows, where this file attribute doesn't
exists)

To fix it set manually the 'execution attribute' of the bat
and the exe files 'tdyn' and 'ramseries' of the folder
home/MYACCOUNT/Programmes/GiDx64/11.04/probemtype/CompassFEM11.0/compassfem.gid/exec
can do it from your file browser or in a console with:
chmod +x
/home/MYACCOUNT/Programmes/GiDx64/11.04/probemtype/CompassFEM11.0/compassfem.gid/compassfem.tdyn.unix.bat
chmod +x
/home/MYACCOUNT/Programmes/GiDx64/11.04/probemtype/CompassFEM11.0/compassfem.gid/exec/tdyn
chmod +x
/home/MYACCOUNT/Programmes/GiDx64/11.04/probemtype/CompassFEM11.0/compassfem.gid/exec/ramseries

In future GiD developer versions on Linux we are going to use for the
'Internet retrieve' tool an alternative to the use .zip file, like a .tgz or
.7z file that support Linux file attributes
