[GiDlist] Problems to postprocess in Safir

Dear colleagues;

I can not postprocess thermal models run with the code Safir. When I switch from processing to postprocessing, an error message pops up (see attached).
It follows that I can not postprocess the model, it is not loaded.
Are you aware about how to overcome such problem?

Hi Eric;

Yes, I can open the file OUT with Diamond and can post-process it.
So I do not know where the problem is. The error message spots a mistake in line 5 of file .res.
I guess that is an internal file created by GiD to postprocess, isn't it?
It seems to me a file with printed values of temperatures in the nodes used to postprocessing.
Below the firsts 5 lines, I highlighted the line that apparently created the error:

GiD Post Results File 1.0
Result "Temperature" "Thermal-2D" 60.000000 Scalar OnNodes
Values
-858993460 1.00000e+000
-858993460 2.00000e+000
The files are huge, if you really want to take a look to it I can send you a link to download it.

The .post.res is the file written by Safir to be read in GiD postprocess, but the file contents are wrong:

GiD Post Results File 1.0

Result "Temperature" "Thermal-2D" 60.000000 Scalar OnNodes

Values

-858993460 1.00000e+000

-858993460 2.00000e+000


the first row is the number of the node, and the second row the scalar value
instead of -858993460 must have a valid node number (of a node that exists)

Maybe it is a problem with GID10. Olivier said to me that the SAFIR to GOD
link had problem with this version
So I still use the 9.06 one.



I’ve send my job application to Barbara Lane and Jamie Stern-Gottfried in
Berlin
I wait for a sign from them.



Maybe you know Romain Buffat ? He worked in Madrid some years ago. He’s a
friend of mine.

The .res file written by Safir is wrong,
Maybe the cause is that the Safir input is not as it expects because of the use of new GiD versions

You can try if you want to use for example GiD 9.0.6 (old GiD versions can be download from our web),
and if it works with this version, but not with GiD 11.0 version, please send me the model and the SAFIR problemtype (send directly to escolano at cimne.upc.edu instead to the gidlist )
and I will find the differences between GiD versions to let SAFIR work properly also with current GiD versions

Yes, the reason for such error was due to a bug in the Thermal2dres.exe file.
The people of the ULG sent me a corrected version of the file.
I am not sure about what could happen with previous versions of GiD, we have not a release 9.
