[GiDlist] Problem Safir -GiD interface

Post by Javier Unanua »

Hi all;

I am trying to run a model for Safir. I disconnected some beam 3D elements degrees of freedom at some nodes to simulate pinned connections (elements do not transfer bending moments in some axes).
When the run is launched; an error message pops up in the screen.
I opened the txt file (in and OUT files are not created) and an error message says the model exceeds the maximum number of beams that can be associated to "Disconnect_Id" (100)
I found that error in the past and tried to overwhelm it generating several Id with the same disconnected degree of freedom so that the number of beams per Id were fewer than 100.
I did not succeed. Does anyone know how to overwhelm this limitation? Otherwise the capacity to disconnect degrees of freedom in Safir - Gid is quite limited.

Thank you in advance !

Thanks, I sent them an email yesterday.
Did you use new GiD release 10 with Safir?
I underwent other problems trying to disconnect DoF.
It did not work and did strange things such as switching the maximum number of DoF from 7 to 3.

Hi !

I’m currently using GID 9.0.6 with SAFIR interface version 2011.

If you have a few nodes to disconnect, maybe do it manually in the .IN file
and see if work better.

Pay also attention to the correct axes you are disconnecting, since the
local axis are different from the global ones.

Keep me informed, as I use SAFIR quite a lot.

[GiDlist] File with extension TBE

Post by escolano »

TBE files can't be edited
The only think that you can do is to convert a .tcl file into a .tbe file, but not the inverse.

Re: [GiDlist] Problem Safir -GiD interface

Post by Juan Antonio Paz »

Dear all,
I am Juan Antonio Paz and I am a master civil engineering student at UCLM.
In this moment, I am developing my master thesis. In my thesis I have to do structural analysis over one open car park when in this car park occur a fire. In first time I did a nominal temperature-time curve analysis, this analysis was doing according to EN 1993-1-2. Later I did a Heskestadt and Hasemi models, these models was developing according to EN 1991-1-2. Finally, I have to do a CFD model, in this point my tutors advise me to use SAFIR. I required to SAFIR 2D while my university bought a 3D license, but I never did anything with SAFIR I only knew this software because the last quartier I was studying at ULG and I studied one elective course about fire engineering.
This week I began to do the 2D examples that SAFIR group sent me when I required SAFIR and I did not have any problems however I thought to do a frame with a local fire and I read the different SAFIR manuals so in first time I have to do a thermal analysis and after do a structural analysis. For to do a thermal analysis I created a HASEMI.txt file where I introduced all fire characteristics and I assigned to the cross section his characteristics. Later, when I create the mesh I go to problem data and in this point SAFIR give me few options but according to SAFIR manual I should select MAKE.TEM or MAKE.TEMHA, if I select MAKE.TEM I could do a thermal analysis but the temperature is constant in the cross section profile however if I select MAKE.TEMHA, I should to introduce a XXXX.IN file where I should to do a structural analysis but the cross section thermal analysis would be previously because here I obtain the different characteristics about cross section and later to introduce it in the different frame parts. So in this point I am stopped. I know that this forum is not thinking for solve questions about SAFIR but I do not find any SAFIR forum where I can request it. Could anyone give me one clue about how to do Hasemi model with SAFIR? Maybe I do not consider something.

Thank you in advance!

Sorrey, we don't know how to use SAFIR.
Must ask to the SAFIR group that has provided you this solver
