ELMDAT: ELEMENT_TYPE NOT EXISTENT

Post by MiguelC. »

Hello,

I've been using the GiD software along with calsef2001 on a computer at my university and it was all good. But now I've installed it in my personal computer and every time i try to calculate anything it appears always the same error. Witch is: "ELMDAT: ELEMENT_TYPE NOT EXISTENT"
I'm using it for structural analyses using the finite element method, after the creation of the mesh I push calculate and the said error appears.
Can anyone help?
Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Miguel Cordeiro.

P.S.: I'm by no means a pro in this software, i realize that maybe this could be a beginner mistake but I've tried everything i know.

Dear Miguel,

I'm not sure about who is in charge of Calsef support. I will try to find someone who can answer you.

Calsef2001 is a deprecated code, I think that nobody is in charge of it.

Maybe do you have some type of element that is not supported by this program?
Check that do you have in GiD only the kind of elements you want
e.g. only triangles for shells, plates, plane strain/stress and revolution solids.
only tetrahedra for 3D solids.
and check that the degree of the elements in linear (maybe quadratic case is not supported by the solver)
