deformations shown in GiD

Post by mosco »

Hello to everyone,
I have a problem with GiD. I have set a circular surface with a hole in the middle with a software called Plato and then I have used the file ".msh" in GiD. My surface has an inner radius equal to 5 (units are arbitrary) and the maximum deformations that GiD shows me are about 0.008. So deformations should be very tiny related to my surface, but as you can see running the file attached, deformations are very huge, too huge. How is it possible? Is there something wrong?

Hello,
when you select a deformation, GiD selects a factor that allows you to see the deformation.
the factor can be seen at the command line, just below the graphical window:

When you select the deformation, you can enter any factor you want at the command line.

Also if you use the deformation icon, a scale appears allowing you to choose the deformation factor:

You can also set the deformation factor using the Windows-->View result window, together with other deformation options, like setting a fixed factor for all results with the same name ( for instance, always use '1' for displacements):
Windows --> View result window with the deformation options.
Windows --> View result window with the deformation options.
