[GiDlist] Error ReaVect
Hola Ignacio, ¿que versión de GiD usas? (si es anterior a la 8.1.7b descarga esta última beta) ¿puedes enviarnos tu modelo a ver lo que pasa? (directamente a escolano at cimne.upc.edu , no a la gidlist) Enrique Escolano ----- Original Message ----- From: Ignacio To: Lista GiD Sent: Wednesday, March ...

[GiDlist] 3d surface
You can try to import the coordinates as points (e.g with a batch file including a first line like "mescape geometry create point" and then the coordinates), and then use this points to manually create curves and this curves to create surfaces. Also you can try other options: - If the poin...

[GiDlist] Iges export
Hi Mark, I'm sorry, but GiD doesn't has this kind of tool. We are working on this kind of topics, but it's difficult this conversion from mesh to NURBS. I tried (a little only) some commertial 'reverse engineering' packages, and they didn't worked without a lot of user aid. If do you find a good pac...

[GiDlist] Iges export
Hi Mark, You are right, the MESHSURFACES are not NURBS, they are defined by a underlying triangle mesh. Can't be converted to a NURBS form and then couldn't be exported as an standard CAD entity. Most GiD geometrical tools, like intersection, etc. won't work with this kind of entity, it's mainly use...

[GiDlist] Problem with mesh generation of a symmetric body
Two recommendations: - Avoid to create a single surface rotating 360 degrees, it's better to create 4 copies (set Multiple copies=4) of 90 degrees - Avoid if possible to revolve points/lines on the revolution axe (the extruded entity will be degenerated) If finally you are not able to generate the m...

[GiDlist] information about partitionning
GiD itself doesn't include any tool to partitionate the mesh (for parallel processing). You can manually separate some geometric or mesh entities in different parts: sending them to a different layer, or assigning different materials of some condition. Then you can write this information in your own...

[GiDlist] export deformed mesh
Hi Mark, You are right, when importing a GiD 'mesh' ASCII file as a 'surfmesh', only the first mesh is read. - If the file is written from the postprocess, each set is written as a separated mesh - If the file is written from the preprocess, all elements of the same type belong to the same mesh (and...

GiD can export the geomety in IGES format, and also in SAT (ACIS) format, but these formats are to exchange the geometric model, not the mesh. Maybe you can modify a little our old Ansys55 problemtype to export a file that can be read by the current Ansys11 program. If do you have some sample file w...
