Hi Bil,
Yes, it should be suitable for solving that kind of problem.

Re: Exchange material problem
Hi,
The material file ccs.mat is not updated for newer versions of Code_Bright. It would work if you update it to the new version, as have been explained in a previous comment (Data-->Problem type-->...)
Best wishes,
Alfonso

Re: Tutorial Excavation
You have not established boundary conditions except for the first interval. No wonder convergence is not possible.
Please revise well your model before asking in the forum.
Best wishes,
Alfonso

Re: Compatibility
Hi,
GiD version 13 should support any version of Code_Bright. However, some minor errors could rise for older versions than Code_Bright v6.
You could find the latest Code_Bright version in our website:

Best wishes,

Re: Code_bright in Linux
There is an unofficial version of Code_bright in Linux somewhere, but the thing is we are a small team and we can't keep it updated, so I think is better to use the official version in Windows 64 bits.

Re: Heat flow in non-linear form
Hi! You can use the so-called -999 option, introducing the values in a table, as explained in section "Boundary conditions variable with time" (pages 25 and 26 for version 7.4 Nov-2017 of the manual).
