[GiDlist] Force line to surface mesh

Dear Nacho, No, this option is not available in GiD by the moment. The only thing you can do is to split de surface in a way that the line own topologically to the surface. [GiDlist] Hexaedron meshes

Just add to Enrique's explanation that you can also obtain hexahedra meshes using semi-structured meshes (structured in the prismatic direction of the volume, and unstructured in the "tops"). You can assign this kind of mesh by "Mesh-Semistructured-Volumes". Regards, ABEL _______________________...

Dear Enrique, I'm Abel, from the GiD Team. Please, can you provide me with the model (in the format which are you reading it from GiD), so as we would be able to detect the possible bug? You can send it to me directly ( abelcs at cimne.upc.edu ). Kind regards, ABEL ______________________________...

[GiDlist] Background mesh

Dear Mauricio, You can divide a quadrilateral mesh into a triangular one using 'Mesh - Edit Mesh-Split Elements - Quadrilateral-Triangle' option. Once you have the new triangles they should work as the other triangular meshes, so you can use them normally as a background mesh. Note that the ...

[GiDlist] duplicate option

Hello Janneth, There is no problem if you want to have the lines or surfaces with "duplicate" mesh criteria in the perimeter. Thee only thing you have to take into account is that GiD cannot create a surface if a line owns to it two times. You may have to split the surface into 2, and assign to some...

[GiDlist] duplicate option

Hello Janneth, You can use the 'duplicate' option to deal with cracks if you have the corresponding geometrical entity where the crack will be. When you assign 'duplicate' mesh criteria to an entity, this entity will give two meshes, one oriented to each sense. You can see a simple e...

[GiDlist] structured mesh

Hello, The problem is that volume number 1 (in the picture you have sent) is not a 6-sided volume. It has 7 surfaces. To reach a structured mesh you have to split this volume in a similar way as volumes 2 and 3 are. Regards, ABEL _________________________________ Abel Coll Sans - Civil Engineer CIMN...
