Re: License for Mac OS X

Thank you for your clarification. I'm interested in purchasing the usb license but I'm skeptical about a few things, it would be great if you could clarify them- 1. You said that the UBS License is valid for all platforms - is the same true for both the official and developer versions (because there...

License for Mac OS X

Hi,

I have a couple of questions-

1. I don't see an official version for Mac OS X, is there one available?

2. Does the evaluation version a developer or official version? What's the difference?

3. If I buy the USB license, would it work for both Linux and Mac OS X ?

Thank you

Error in invoking tcl procedure

Hi, I am trying to invoke tcl procedure in my .bas file. When the return value from the tcl procedure is an integer, it works but it throws an error when the return value is a floating point number. For example, When I use the following in my .bas file: *set var temp=2.1 *temp *tcl(proc test { x } {...

Re: moving specific nodes/elems to a different layer

Hi, I did try moving the curve to a different layer but I'm creating a volumetric mesh that has nodes on the curve (and the volume belongs to the orignal layer) so the nodes on the curve doesn't show up in the new layer where my curve lies. I'm running 12.1.1d developer version of GID. Is there some...

moving specific nodes/elems to a different layer

Hi, I am trying to move nodes that lie on a specifc line that exist in the inside of my complex domain to a different layer so that I can visualize and fetch node numbers and the coordinates with ease for those nodes. Is there a way to to select all nodes that lie on that line and move all of them a...

Re: Comparing meshes : Duplicate vs No-duplicate

Thanks a lot for the clarification. One last followup question regarding the same- so if the mesh could change by just changing the order of the elements, is there an inbuilt feature that I can utilize to have a measure of how different are the meshes that GID creates each time, or is there a system...

Re: Comparing meshes : Duplicate vs No-duplicate

I am not sure if I understood you correctly. I have the exact same volumes in the two cases I have, shouldn't the the mesher create identical volumetric meshes if element size specified remains the same regardless of the fact that I am duplicating nodes at some surface or creating quadratic or linea...

Comparing meshes : Duplicate vs No-duplicate

Hi, I am trying to create a couple of meshes using RSurf mesher. In one case, I am using the duplicate nodes at a surface feature of GID and in the other case, I chose not to duplicate a particular surface. In both cases I use the same element size (specifically, I am trying to generate tetrahedral ...

Mesher Quality: RSurf vs RFast

Hi, I am trying to create a nearly uniform meshes for a geometry that contains a curved edge (planar surface though). I used both RSurf and RFast meshers, and RFast seems to give me elements with bad aspect ratio. Is there a tcl command or some other way to export the aspect ratios for each element ...

Skipping entities using Rjump mesher

Hi, I am trying to represent a represent a crack surface that is shared by three 3-dimensional volumes. However, I need to skip the lines and sufaces of two of the volumes ( I just need nodes on the shared surface). I tried Rjump mesher and skip by Lines, but it says "1 line has been rejected b...
