Re: exporting information from GiD via a text file

How are you exporting the information a text? with Files->Export->Text data report...? In general any standard format will export exactly what you want, and in fact normals is derived information that is not usually exported because it is redundant data. (a dot product of two tangent vectors and an ...

Re: maximum load

Sorry Markus, but this question must be asked to the Atena team, not to us (GiD team), contact them.
It is related with the simulation, and for us it is like a black box of each problemtype.

Re: Structured mesh

A Structured volume must be topologically like a cube, and nowadays in GiD it must have exactly 6 surfaces (and these surfaces must be topologically like a square with 4 lines). The amount of divisions on opposite surfaces/lines must be the exactly the same Allow the case where some of the surfaces ...

Re: Difficulties implementing a problemtype using the customLib

As you said, with your command you are printing the elements grouped by the condition name: "parts_1d" "parts_2d" "parts_3d" (that in fact is related by its name to a GiD group of entities) then elements are sorted by its group (and inside each group by element id) If y...

Re: Difficulties implementing a problemtype using the customLib

You said: The solver requires element’s connectivities numbered sequentially from 1 to 101 I don't know what this mean. Is this numeration possible in a generic mesh (unstructured triangles+tetrahedra, etc) ? In any case: If do you need in the calculation file a very specific sorting of the elements...

Re: cmas2d.gid question

Maybe I don't understand well your question. In the cmas2d.gid (classic problemtype) as user you must assign a material to each geometry surface. (each entity can have 1 and only 1 material) Data->Materials... Assign->Surfaces when generating the mesh all elements of each surface will inherit the ma...

Re: Count surfaces with condition

The GiD Tcl command GiD_Info conditions allow to get this information
e.g.
set num_entities [GiD_Info conditions $condition_name geometry -count]

See the "GiD customization manual"

Re: tutorial videos

There are not official video-tutorials to learn GiD, only some examples in our channel
https://www.youtube.com/c/gidhome
(maybe the access to youtube is forbidden connecting from China, I don't know)

Re: tutorial videos

Unfortunatelly there are not official video-tutorials to learn GiD
In any case, you can search in youtube for some tutorials of problemtypes using GiD

Re: Refining quadrilateral and hexahedral element meshes

Instead of manually you can do it at Tcl scripting level

e.g. can ask the current mesh for example with
GiD_Info Mesh

and can create new nodes and elements with the command
GiD_Mesh create|delete|edit|get|list

see GiD help on Customization->Tcl/Tk extension
