Re: mesh and normal to the elements ?.

Why do you forbid all possible solutions using .bas or .tcl? If do you already have a problemtype, you can for example add a <problemtype>.bas template with a content as simple as this *loop elems *elemsnum *elemsnormal *end elems And when calculating it will be written a file named <modelname>.dat ...

Re: Issues with Abaqus/StarCCM co-simulation

Sorry, but it seems that this question is an Abaqus error message.
It is not related to GiD at all, then this is not the appropriated forum to be asked.

Re: Result surface plot issue

The surface mesh could be in any 3D location, not compulsory in the XY plane (Z=0) like your example. The "Result surface" plot is not drawing possitive values along +Z (Z global axis), but along +surface_normal_direction (+z local axis) It seems that in your example the normal of your tri...

Re: Floating license wont release

We have upload just now a new passerver 2.6 version.

https://www.gidhome.com/archive/gid_adds/PasServer

Please, try this new version.

It has a new very interesting for the users: all GiD instancies running in the same machine will be counted only once by passerver.

Re: size of postprocess file!!

The limit is not the file size but the memory size requiered when its content is read (and uncompressed) into RAM memory. Not only GiD, all x32 applications processes have a limit of about 2 or 3 GB (depending if the operating system is Windows or Linux, and some extra setting depending on its versi...

Re: Bug with collapsing nodes at intersection of line elements

You can do this (more simple and efficient) GiD_Process Mescape Utilities Collapse Nodes {*}$nodes_to_collapse escape The {*} is a special Tcl standard syntax, available since Tcl 8.5 that expand a single item list its multiple sub-items [5] Argument expansion. If a word starts with the string “{*}”...

Re: Help for creating a prism

This is a trivial case, please follow some GiD tutorials to start learning how to use GiD (e.g. the 'GiD user manual') To create the volume create a square surface from (0,0,0) to (1,1,0) and use the copy tool to extrude by translation a volume 10 units in z direction then to obtain the mesh you wan...

Re: Problem initializing GID

Which exact GiD version?
and what is your exact operating system?

If you are on Linux platform and have problems with your graphic card (after update your drivers) can also try a 'graphics by sofware' option, starting GiD with the command
gidx
instead of
gid
