the gid program on the files:

gid10.2.1d-linux-x64-Install
gid10.2.1d-linux-x64.tar.gz

was compiled on an Ubuntu 10.04.04 LTS system, with gcc 4.4.3.

If you can not start GiD with a message complainig about libc.so or glibc_XXX then
try the following package:

gid10.2.1d-older-linux-x64.tar.gz

this GiD in this package was compiled on an Ubuntu 8.04.04 LTS, with gcc 4.2.4 and should work.
